This week’s favourite image is from Kelly and Phil’s wedding this summer at the Gorgeous Capethorne Hall in Cheshire. Kelly’s lace wedding dress was stunning and I wanted to capture the full sweep of the veil in a dramatic wide angle shot. As she finished getting ready I positioned myself near the window, knowing that when her veil had been pinned her bridesmaid would place it behind her. Kelly raised her hands to keep the veil comb in place, creating a shot with striking lines. Kelly is lit by flattering light from the window and her arms frame her face, while the veil curves diagonally across the frame to the bridesmaid’s hands as she stands behind.
On a wedding day you only have a few moments to predict and visualise wedding photographs like these, so you can be in position at the right moment, not interrupting the flow and capturing the story as it happens. The effect here is beauty and elegance. Unsurprisingly, Kelly and Phil chose it for the album
